Recently un-retired heavyweight boxer Ed Latimore has released a new memoir, Hard Lessons from the Hurt Business: Boxing and the Art of Life, chronicling his journey from growing up in Pittsburgh public housing to competing professionally in the ring, according to the Pittsburgh Review.
The book, released August 5, 2025, recounts Latimore’s experiences with poverty, alcoholism, and personal setbacks, and the role boxing played in developing discipline, endurance, and focus. Latimore said the sport provided a framework for overcoming adversity and building life skills applicable outside of competition, the Pittsburgh Review reported.
On July 12, 2025, Latimore returned to professional boxing after nearly nine years away from the sport, winning by first-round TKO and improving his record to 14-1-1, according to Joker Mag and Latimore’s website.
In addition to his boxing career, Latimore is an author, competitive chess player, and founder of Stoic Street-Smarts, a platform that shares lessons on self-improvement and resilience. He maintains an active online presence through his website and social media accounts, where he writes about personal development and discipline.
Latimore retired from professional boxing in 2018 with a record of 13 wins, one loss, and one draw before his 2025 comeback. Hard Lessons from the Hurt Business is available through major booksellers and on Latimore’s website.
