Jason Gregory on Mental and Spiritual Resilience: ‘Real security… is found in the sense of unity we feel within’

Jason Gregory is a philosopher and teacher of Eastern wisdom traditions, author of Spiritual Freedom in the Digital Age, Effortless Living, and several other works. His upcoming book, The Tradition of Natural Taoism: The Way of Free and Easy Wandering in Oneness, will publish in 2025.

In a recent LinkedIn post, philosopher and author Jason Gregory shared how cultivating inner unity can strengthen mental and spiritual resilience. He reflected on the nature of the mind and how learned beliefs can obscure a deeper, more secure sense of self.

“When we explore the nature of our minds, we discover that its contents are polluted with learned beliefs about a sense of self we are supposed to be, and a body we are supposed to identify with, as if it’s permanent and everlasting,” Gregory wrote. “Real security, then, is not found in identification with division, but rather found in the sense of unity we feel within with no divisional boundaries.”

Gregory said many of these learned beliefs are rooted in insecurity passed from others who share the same affliction. By questioning them, he suggested, individuals can rediscover a natural state of unity that exists beyond the illusion of separation—a foundation for enduring resilience in the face of life’s challenges.

His comments align with Taoist principles, which emphasize harmony and balance by transcending ego-based divisions. These concepts are explored further in his upcoming book, The Tradition of Natural Taoism, which examines unity as a natural state of mind and a cornerstone of resilient living.

Jason Gregory is a philosopher, writer, and teacher known for works on Eastern philosophy, comparative religion, and the intersection of spirituality and science. He has authored multiple books on Taoism, Zen, and Eastern wisdom traditions.
