Entrepreneur and author Curt Mercadante reflected on the power of change during a visit to Las Vegas, using the city’s constantly evolving skyline—and the relocation of the Oakland A’s Major League Baseball team—as a reminder that transformation is not just inevitable, but essential.
“Out my window at Mandalay Bay this morning: A construction site where the future home of the Las Vegas A’s Major League Baseball team is rising,” Mercadante wrote in a LinkedIn post. “It’s a common story in Vegas — one hotel or casino gets torn down to make way for something new. Blink, and the skyline changes.”

Mercadante noted that while the demolition process can often feel messy or painful, it is a necessary part of growth—whether in a city, a business, or a personal life. He encouraged readers to recognize that resilience is not about clinging to what was, but adapting to what is emerging. “The faster you embrace change, the faster you build what’s next,” he wrote.
The move of the A’s franchise from Oakland to Las Vegas, uprooting decades of history, served as a metaphor for personal reinvention. In a world moving faster than ever, Mercadante argued that those who succeed are not the ones who resist change, but those who meet it with speed, grace, and optimism.
He closed by challenging readers with a reflection: “Where in your life do you need to tear something down to make way for something better?”
