Asprey: ‘Have you noticed there’s a ‘scary new disease’ every four years?’

Biohacker Dave Asprey said the world has been programmed to be afraid of “reasonable risk.”

“Have you noticed there’s a ‘scary new disease’ every four years?” Asprey posted on X. “If something in the world has programmed you to be afraid of reasonable risk, you’ve been had.”

Asprey, a well-known figure in the wellness and self-optimization space, said his own approach to fear has been foundational to his personal freedom.

“In my early 20s I set out to do every single thing that scared me,” he wrote. “Not things that were dangerous, things that were scary. And maybe a little dangerous when it was worth it.”

He said that practice transformed his life.

“And that has made my life so much richer and it has created so much freedom in my head and my heart,” Asprey said. “So choose danger. Because who knows what you might do?”
