Entrepreneur and agency founder Curt Mercadante said becoming a prompt engineer is a key to resilience in the AI era.
“Want to be more resilient in the AI era? Start by getting radically better at defining problems — and then prompt accordingly,” Mercadante wrote in a newsletter post on LinkedIn. “To do that, you have to know how to give good prompts.”
“This isn’t just about working in AI — it’s about learning to think clearly and ask better questions to extract better outcomes from the tools at your disposal,” Mercadante added. “That’s the core skill of resilience in today’s world: using leverage.”
Fiverr CEO Micha Kaufman recently urged workers to adapt, stating bluntly: “Google is dead. LLM and GenAI are the new basics.” His advice? Become a prompt engineer.
In his post, Mercadante cited The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss, noting that the 2007 book’s real message wasn’t just about outsourcing but about learning to clearly define tasks — a skill that enables delegation to people or machines alike.
Mercadante is the founder of Accelerate Media Labs and Pipeline Media Agency, where he advises mission-driven entrepreneurs and organizations on message strategy, media placement, and adapting to disruptive technologies.
