Simon Squibb said artificial intelligence is moving faster than most people realize—and those without a clear purpose will be left behind.
“Your livelihood is in danger,” Squibb said in a post on LinkedIn. “You might think it won’t happen to you… But it will.”
“It won’t be a robot firing you,” he added. “It’ll be the person using the robot to replace you.”
Squibb contrasted the perceived security of traditional high-skill jobs with the reality of the AI economy. “The 18-year-old using ChatGPT in his bedroom to start a business is more secure than the 26-year-old studying to be a brain surgeon,” he wrote. “If you wake up with no direction, no mission… AI will eat you alive.”
Squibb’s comments come as AI-driven tools like ChatGPT, Midjourney, and Copilot continue to reshape industries from customer support and logistics to content creation and medicine.
A 2023 Goldman Sachs report estimated that generative AI could automate the equivalent of 300 million full-time jobs globally. While the report emphasized potential GDP gains, it also acknowledged serious labor displacement in white-collar fields.
According to a 2024 McKinsey analysis, jobs most exposed to AI include office support, customer service, and computer programming—many of which were once considered future-proof.
