Fitness influencer and high-performance coach Dan Go has called on the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement to prioritize a simple yet impactful health initiative: increasing daily step counts.
“One thing I’d like MAHA to promote: Increasing step count,” Go posted on X. “Getting as little as 6,000 steps a day reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease by 40% to 50% compared to those who walk only 2,000–4,000.”
Go’s recommendation is backed by scientific evidence, including a 2021 meta-analysis published by the National Center for Biotechnology Information, which found a strong correlation between higher step counts and reduced risk of cardiovascular disease. The study highlights that individuals taking around 6,000 steps daily experience a dramatic reduction in cardiovascular risk compared to those with lower activity levels, such as 2,000–4,000 steps.
The post, which included a bar graph tracking Go’s own step count from February 12 to March 14, 2025, showed an impressive average of 13,288 steps per day. This data underscores Go’s commitment to physical activity and serves as a personal example of the achievable goal he advocates for the public.
