Dan Go: ‘5 Underrated Health Supplements You’re Probably Not Taking’

Health and fitness coach Dan Go has highlighted five lesser-known supplements that he believes can enhance health and performance.

“Over the past year, I’ve been secretly experimenting with myself—think biohacking, but with less hype and more data,” Go wrote in a blog post.

He emphasized that while supplements are not essential for health, the right ones can provide an edge, comparing them to “putting premium fuel in a high-performance car.”

Go identified glycine as “the Swiss Army knife of amino acids,” citing benefits such as improved sleep, reduced inflammation, and support for joint and cognitive health. Regarding berberine, he referred to it as “nature’s version of metformin—with a side of appetite control,” noting its role in regulating blood sugar, aiding weight loss, and supporting cardiovascular health.

Discussing collagen peptides, Go mentioned their potential to improve skin elasticity, strengthen joints, and support bone density. He also highlighted myo-inositol for its ability to enhance insulin sensitivity and mental clarity. Regarding L-theanine, Go described it as “like a chill pill for your coffee buzz,” emphasizing its stress-reducing properties and its ability to enhance focus when combined with caffeine.

Berberine has been gaining attention for its potential to regulate blood glucose and promote weight loss, earning the nickname “nature’s Ozempic.” Additionally, magnesium L-threonate, another supplement Go has discussed, is noted for its potential brain health benefits.

Dave Asprey, known as the “father of biohacking,” spends $3,000 monthly on supplements but emphasizes that affordability is still achievable for essential nutrients. He mentions three cost-effective supplements to improve health: broad-spectrum mineral supplements, Vitamin DAKE, and amino acids. Asprey highlights amino acids, crucial for muscle growth, bone strength, and immune support, especially beneficial for plant-based diets.

Dan Go, based in Canada, spent 15 years coaching thousands of clients and growing a successful gym in Toronto. After selling his gym, he dedicated his career to helping entrepreneurs transform their bodies. Go believes that health is the “number one metahabit that makes all things better,” emphasizing that transforming one’s body can catalyze improvements in various aspects of life.
