“Getting fast is good for everyone and everything, not just running fast,” said Mark Sisson in a post on X. “@pntrack talks about golfers improving their swing through sprint training. I’ve seen 75-year-olds become younger by sprinting once a week. Do it safely, but do it.”

Health and fitness pioneer Mark Sisson advocated for sprint training at any age in a recent post, noting its wide-reaching benefits for physical vitality—even beyond athletic performance.

Sisson’s comments highlight how explosive movement stimulates muscle growth, improves insulin sensitivity, and supports longevity. Even in older adults, research has shown that high-intensity interval training and sprint work can reverse aspects of age-related decline, including loss of power and bone density.

He also emphasized safety—advocating for proper warm-up and progression when incorporating sprinting into a fitness routine. Done correctly, brief, intense efforts can yield disproportionate benefits compared to steady-state cardio.

Sisson is the founder of Mark’s Daily Apple and author of The Primal Blueprint. He is widely regarded for popularizing ancestral health strategies, including primal eating, barefoot training, and high-intensity, low-frequency exercise protocols.
